Wildlife Society of Queensland has conserved fragmented populations of the beautiful Richmond Birdwing since 2014. Enthusiasts cultivate the foodplant in former habitats and introduce captive bred butterflies. Their 2017 campaign, “Bring Back the Birdwing” reached a target of 500 new vine plantings and raised Au$18K! Now they’re setting their sights on joining up populations on the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast. For more details see a full account here. We wish the Society every success!
